Los Angeles community honors Gagik Ginosian

Gagik Ginosian, the founder and art director of the change-making Karin Folk Ensemble, was remembered in a ceremony on February 11 at St. Leon Cathedral in Burbank, Ginosian passed away on February 6, at age 57.

Ararat Dance Group, an ethnographic dance group based in Los Angeles, organized the ceremony, which began with a service inside the chapel. Following the service, dozens of people, including members of the Lernazang Ensemble, danced Musa Leran Dabke, Karno Kochari, Msho Khr and Yarkhushta in the cathedral’s courtyard. 

Ginosian was an Honored Cultural Worker for the Republic of Armenia. He was a renowned ethnographer who restored many folk and ethnographic dances. He used Yerevan’s Cascade park space to encourage the public learning to dance the many dances of eastern and western Armenia.
