Along border with Iran, one grower pioneers olive production in Armenia

Karo Karapetyan began importing olives to Armenia in the 1990s. But after some time, he realized he could grow olives himself in his hometown of Meghri in the country’s far south. Now, Karo owns and operates the largest olive grove in all of southern Armenia, producing at least 10 tons every year. With demand for his organic olives growing, Karo is now looking to expand into olive oil production. CivilNet’s team caught up with Karo at his olive grove to learn more.
